Design route

The design route winds its way through the historic setting of the Treasure House and the Zuiderzee Village. At various locations, you’ll discover how the cultural history of the Zuiderzee inspires artists, (fashion) designers, and photographers to create new work. Through contemporary interpretations of historical techniques, materials, and stories, the Zuiderzee Museum demonstrates that our heritage remains relevant today.

The Blue Fishvendor

Graffiti artist Hugo Kaagman transformed this house in Harderwijk, which is part of the collection of ‘t Zuiderzeedorp. Using stencils and an airbrush, he created paintings that resemble Delft blue tiles.

In the silence of the deep water cellar

Nynke Koster created a work of art in the courtyard of the Treasure House, inspired by the 18th-century water cellars hidden beneath it. Koster made a cast of the brick walls in the cellar and translated this into a contemporary form.
